Medical Transcription Companies
Most of the medical transcription companies employ a team that has a wide range of expertise in: operative reports, discharge summaries, consultations, emergency room care and radiology. Additional areas of expertise of these companies include: plastic surgery, general/vascular surgery, neurosurgery/neurology, radiation-oncology, orthopedics, dermatology, gastroenterology, urology, cardiology, ob/gyn, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, internal medicine, geriatrics and family medicine.
Some companies are using offshore transcription companies to save their money. However, while outsourcing medical transcription to offshore companies can save money, many companies are not following this method. There are various concerns and issues regarding outsourcing to offshore companies. Offshore Medical Transcription companies are not required complying with HIPAA regulations. This means they do not follow the HIPAA security and privacy guidelines to safeguard medical records. In some cases it can be done, but mandatory agreements required by HIPAA guidelines must be signed. And precautions must be taken so that data is not sent overseas. The overseas vendors must log on to database to do their work, which means extra systems and measures must be put in place. This can be expensive and also sometimes time consuming.
